Editing Layers — Defining Instrument Texture

Defining Instrument Texture

The Instrument texture box is used to apply a user-defined image onto the slide’s 3D instrument.

The Instrument Texture Box

The instrument texture box appears under the color box when a 3D instrument is selected. I allows you to assign one of the 4 available slide images as a texture to be applied on the instrument’s body.

To do so:

  1. Using the Slide panel (⌘.), load a texture image into one of the 4 available slots.

  2. Select the 3D instrument.

  3. Click on the thumbnail button corresponding to the image you want to apply as texture:

    • None – no texture is applied.

    • Image 01-04 – Slide Image 01-04 is applied. Note that a dot indicates an empty image slot - just like in the Slide panel.

Instrument Texture Template

For texture mapping to work, new textures will have a dimension of 1024 x 768 pixels and look like this:

This template shows you where the top, back and sides of the guitars are to be painted.

To obtain a copy of the template image shown above, follow these steps:

  1. Using the menu, click File->Export Instrument Texture Template...

  2. Using the File panel, choose a name and location of your template file.

  3. Load the Template file into your favorite image editor and add the graphics you want to appear on the guitar.
